Reviews
Range incredible, customer service off the chart good. Made a significant investment purchase of a new Akubra and couldn't be happier with my choice to go to City Hatters. There's a reason they've been around for 113 years.
Would highly recommend to anyone else wanting a high quality product with exceptional customer service.
Great shop. There are so many different hats and caps. Absolutely stunning !! Staff members were very helpful, kind and fun! The knowledge that the staff members had about their products was incredible and amazing. I learnt so many things about my new hat that I bought here and they guided me through how to take care of it in the future.
Fantastic hats and staff members. It was a wonderful experience.
I will come back !!!
Shop specifically for men’s hats—went along with my boyfriend. Classic and old-fashioned styles, great range of prices, and all hats were of solid quality—anyone can find what they’re looking for! Outstanding staff as well, the woman that helped us was knowledgeable, professional, and kind.
My grandfather introduced me to CITY HATTERS in the 1940s and I was and still impressed with the all round assistance given by the staff and the excellent product range available. I recently purchased a PANAMA hat 4 days ago and it arrived today absolutely first class in every aspect.
An icon and must see of Melbourne CBD. The salesman was very helpful and patient as I tried on several styles and sizes. Finally settled with a Acubra Angler. The chinstrap I also purchased was fitted while I waited. Excellent shopping experience and so glad this store is still going so well.
Great little store and Melbourne institution but personally I did not have a pleasant and welcoming experience.
The biggest issue I had here was the service. The ladies that worked here were generally fine, the men however were icy and unfriendly. One of them (with a fancy moustache) treated us with “please handle the hats by holding on the side and not the top part” to which I told him we were already told that… then he walked away “otherwise we can’t sell the hats”. Did not appreciate being treated like that. Will make my hat purchases online instead.
Popped in to check of Akubra Hombergs in stock. Excited to see yes they are … and had excellent service and advice about choosing colours. Not cheap but amazing quality and the service as exceptional… thank you
City Hatters is a little hat shop nestled in the corner of Melbourne's iconic Flinders Street Station. While the shop has an inconspicuous façade, what lays inside is bound to surprise you.
The shop is delightful. It may not have a large interior, but there is certainly a large inventory and selection of hats to choose from (my quick photographs don’t do it justice). The staff are accommodating and friendly, and there are multiple mirrors inside to check yourself out with a hat you are trying on. Not to mention, their website is easy to navigate and view all sorts of hats assorted into categories if you prefer shopping online.
Rosa helped me choose three brilliant flat caps, making sure that they fit me well, recommending me on the colour and texture. These are my first flat caps—proper hats in fact—and I am in love with them. Now I don't leave the house without wearing one and it is perfect for the winter weather! Thank you very much, Rosa.
All in all, my experience was wonderful, and I highly recommend this shop.
I look forward to my next visit to Melbourne's greatest hat shop!
